Wear and tear and dislocation are the main causes of a leaky shower pan. The water can run outside of the shower door area onto the floor of the bathroom and leak between the shower and the floor area. Water can also seep past strainers that aren t properly connected to the drain and in. If it happens that your shower or bathtub is located above your garage you can cut costs by having the plumber cut the ceiling under those pipes and replacing it with a removable door.

If you find some you re in for a new shower pan or shower floor to stop the leak. The idea is to use the process of elimination and keep looking for any evidence of a leak each step of the way. This is a very common issue with tubs. Depending on which floor this shower is located you might see water or water marks on a ceiling or when you look in the basement or crawl space.
